A number of Canadian flags were damaged this winter due to the weather.
Many towns, cities or businesses may question how to properly dispose the flag.
Joel Girouard with the Department of Heritage says there is no specific way to do it.
“It should be done privately and it should be completely destroyed so that it doesn’t show up again in poor condition.”
He suggests cutting it up in small pieces – so it’s no longer recognizable.
Flags should be replaced right away if in a faded or tattered condition.
