Make your plans to get down on the farm this weekend!
Sunday is “Open Farm Day” in Atlantic Canada. It’s the perfect day to learn more about what products are produced and raised in our own backyard and a great chance to learn more about where our food comes from. We have a few farms on the South Shore participating this year if you want to stay close to home.
– Indian Garden Farms – Hebbville
Farm Type: Fruit and vegetables
Indian Garden Farms will have hayride tours available all day! They are also hosting a pumpkin guessing contest and live entertainment. Come and visit their animal residents and enjoy a day on the farm.
– LaHave River Berry Farm Inc. – Middle Lahave
Farm Type: Certified organic berries and garlic, cut flowers
Tour of our raspberry, blackberry, high bush blueberry, black raspberry and cut flower growing areas. The haskap orchard is a short walk back in the woods to the cleared orchard. A haskap harvesting demo will take place. We will answer questions related to growing berries, cut flowers, etc.
– Bar M Ranch – New Ross
Farm Type: Beef, vegetables, Christmas trees, flowers
We will have farm tours and activities for people to experience.
There is a long list of farms to visit across our province. Your chance to get a great look at the variety of things farmed right here in our backyard.
