A big announcement on cellphone use in schools, Thursday morning.
The province says Minister of Education Becky Druhan will make the announcement .
This comes after not only a large-scale consultation in Nova Scotia, but follows Ontario after they made their announcement on new restrictions in April.
Nova Scotia then started reviewing its own policy.
“I would say we’ve heard that there’s a desire for support around this,” says Druhan.
Druhan told reporters in May she expects the policy to be something different than the current one, but at the time the government was still consulting with schools and teachers.
She added that cellphones can be great educational tools but can also provide challenges.
The announcement will be at Clayton Park Junior High in at 10 a.m. in Halifax.
The new policy is expected to be in schools by September.
