It was a special day on Sunday, the day the bananas finally got used. My wife gets annoyed at me making fun of all the bananas in the freezer, destined to become banana muffins or bread or whatever other items can be made for the banana afterlife.
It happened after a spilled ice cube tray that led to cleaning out the freezer. It is amazing the things you discover under the layer of black frozen bananas when you go looking.
That takes me to the question, how often should you clean out your freezer? The experts recommend once a year.
I have to say it was a real nuisance to do, but the last time I cleaned out our deep freezer, I wrote down what was in it. Now as we use something we check it off and so far that seems to be working. It is a great way to know that older things are being used up and nothing is forgotten.
