The Bank of Montreal announced a major contribution to the Brighter Days Campaign which will help fund the redevelopment of South Shore Regional Hospital.
BMO is donating $200,000 towards the campaign and a small celebration was hosted at the Bridgewater branch to celebrate the occasion.
At the event BMO Regional President Justin Scully explained the donation came about when long-time BMO customer and Brighter Days Board Co-Charid David Himmelmen reached out. “David has had a relationship with us for a long time, and we always can count on him to support us with our various charity initiatives, so when he called I immediately said we would commit to $100,000,”. However, in an effort to do more when Scully and his team submitted the necessary approval documents to BMO head office, they requested $200,000 which was subsequently approved.
Scully went on to explain that contributions like this are a part of BMO’s core philosophy, “Investing in local healthcare embodies our Purpose to Boldly Grow the Good in business and life, as it promotes the progress and innovation of medicine in Atlantic Canada,”.
Led by a volunteer Campaign Cabinet committee co-chaired by Tim O’Regan and David Himmelman, the Brighter Days capital campaign is raising $9.5-million, recently committing to raising its goal to secure $2-million in additional medical equipment and technology for the expanded and new Emergency, Dialysis, Diagnostic Imaging, Endoscopy and Day Surgery departments.
“Both the Brighter Days volunteers and the Health Services Foundation staff are thrilled with this generous investment in local health care by BMO Financial Group. As one of the financial institution leaders in our area, Justin and his colleagues really understand the important role South Shore Regional plays in the lives of their customers and their employees. This project is going to revamp health care in our region and we are thankful BMO Financial Group is helping make this goal possible.”
