Well a gloomy start to the weekend, but we DO need the rain, so enjoy it.  Sunday looks like a sunny one, so let’s make some plans.  Today is “Sunscreen Day” and even though it is overcast the UV index will be 6 or High, so still a possibility of exposure, so don’t be scared to apply the lotion.  I am never sure what I actually need to use when it comes to the SPF (Sun Protection Factor) number.  Well this is what some in the know say:

A study published in the “Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology” finds that despite the SPF 30 guideline, most people don’t apply sunscreen liberally enough to gain the full benefit, and therefore should use lotions, etc. that are at or above SPF 70.

One last thing that is very important in the summertime, almost as much as water and sand, ICE CREAM!
You may have noticed that Farmers and Scotsburn have joined forces this year at your local ice cream spot.  Now of course there is soft serve, that is pretty simple, but when it comes to the hard ice cream, I am always confused by the names and uncertain if I will enjoy them or not.
Yes, I know that standards, Coffee, Heavenly Hash, Rum & Raisin (MMMM) and of course Moon Mist… But if I say Dinosaur Bones or Moose on the Loose, do you know what they are like?  Well this list should help.  You can study up so that when you see the little sign in the window as you try to distance from the people in the line at the ice cream spot, you won’t have to carry binoculars to try to read it before your time to order.
