After the last two years of Canada Day celebrations were derailed by COVID the Town of Bridgewater is planning a return to normal this year.
“While we know COVID isn’t gone completely, people know how to best protect themselves and what their comfort level for events are,” said Mayor David Mitchell. “I’m thrilled that this year there are activities happening and a huge thank you needs to go out to all the volunteers who work hard every year to put on Canada Day activities in the Town of Bridgewater”

Communications Lead for the town, Pat Hirtle says events will take place all day across the town.
“We’re essentially dividing the day in two, with a daytime multicultural festival planned in Woodlawn Gardens and we are looking at doing some free swims at the O’Regan’s Subaru Outdoor Pool,” Hirtle said. ” From 4 p.m. onwards we’re looking to have a food truck rally and some entertainment on King Street as part of a kitchen party, then the fireworks will be launched from a barge in the river sometime after 10 p.m.”
Hirtle says they have partnered with the South Shore Multicultural Association once again to put on the multicultural festival and he says their inclusion is an important part of the celebration.
“They really do a good job of exposing people to other cultures, and it really speaks to the idea of Canada being this beautiful mosaic of cultures,” Hirtle said.
As part of the live music being put on for Canada Day, the town is appealing to local performers who may wish to take part.
Applications to be a performer along with more info on Canada Day in Bridgewater can be found on the town website.
