The Town of Lunenburg has completed its search for a permanent CAO, naming Jamie Doyle to the role on Thursday.
Doyle returns to Nova Scotia after nearly 20 years of work in various roles in the public service across Alberta.
Most recently Doyle has been serving as the CAO of the Region of the Municipality of Wood Buffalo, which is where Fort MacMurray and many of the major Canadian oil sand operations are.
Doyle originally hails from Cape Breton, after which he attended Dalhousie University where he received a degree in Community Design. Doyle also has earned a Municipal Executive Certification from the University of Alberta, and a Graduate Certificate in Professional Project Management.
Prior to beginning his work in municipal government, Doyle served with the Canadian Armed Forces for four years as a combat engineer.
In a statement included with the announcement Doyle said, “I am delighted to have an opportunity to come back to Nova Scotia and work for the Town of Lunenburg,” he said. “After visiting the community and Town Council I am excited to work alongside such a progressive group and play my part in continuing to make Lunenburg a great place to live, work and play.”
Doyle is set to start in his new role on July 4.
He will be taking over for interim CAO Kevin Malloy who accepted the role back in November on the condition he would only fill the role until a permanent replacement was found.
