Growing up, the evening news was a consistent part of the night routine. Supper and the news would only be skipped if there was hay that needed to go in, so it is easy to become comfortable with the person delivering the news. When that person changes, it is a big deal. I remember when Lisa LaFlamme took over as anchor of the national news, that was a huge deal. When Dave Wright stepped down as the anchor of the evening news on CTV (ATV back then), it took some getting used to a new face. Well last night was a bit of a shocker as Steve Murphy announced that as of November 30th, he is stepping down as anchor of the evening news.

Now I have been seeing this shared around the internet since last evening, and the question that has popped up a few times is who will be the person to fill his shoes?
If asked, I know the person I would suggest, but it is certainly something to think of. Would Bruce Frisko jump in the seat? Amanda Debison always did a great job filling in, or is this going to be the chance for a new unknown face to join the team. I guess it will be a game of wait and see.
I would think the scariest thing about anchoring news would be uncontrolled laughter. I know that is bad enough on the radio when you can’t see us, haha.
