A rainfall warning is in effect for most of the South Shore.
Environment Canada is predicting between 30 and 50 millimetres of rain which is set to begin Sunday evening.
The rain will be accompanied by wind gusts of up to 80 kilometres per hour.
A brief period of snow, ice pellets, or freezing rain is possible in northern and eastern areas as the precipitation starts.
In addition, higher than normal water levels and rough pounding surf are possible at high tide Monday morning along the Atlantic Coast from Yarmouth to Canso.
The rain is expect to taper off on Monday afternoon.
