Two axe throwers from Barrington have returned home from Sweden with some exciting news.
Darren Hudson and Suzy Atwood competed in the World Axe Throwing Championships last weekend.
Hudson finished in 34th place while Atwood was the top Canadian woman at 19th.
Hudson says Canada was selected to host the next world championships in 2021.
“We were always leaning towards being the hosts for the World Championships and it was a unanimous vote in Sweden by all the presidents of all the representatives from countries around the world.”
Hudson says it is an incredible honour to be selected to host.
“We can’t disclose the exact location yet, there is still a few bidding elements that are coming into place. We’re super excited to have this opportunity, this privilege to host the World Championships in Canada.”
Both Hudson and Atwood are expected to compete next weekend in Liverpool at the Canadian Axe Throwing Championships.
