The town of Bridgewater is making it easier to get around.
Sharp-eyed observers will notice several wayfinding signs have been installed around town this past week.
Communications Manager Pat Hirtle hopes the markers will expand people’s idea of Bridgewater.
“A lot of people just view Bridgewater as a shopping destination or a service destination. But we really want to convey to both the visitors and even our own residents that Bridgewater’s got a lot more than that to offer.”
Hirtle says the signs have been in the works for some time.
“We’ve actually had the signs since last fall. Unfortunately, we received them after the frost went into the ground. So rather than trying to install them over the winter months we’ve been waiting for the ground to thaw and as soon as we had the opportunity, our guys were out doing the installation work.”
The library, marina, downtown and recreation facilities are among the destinations indicated by the blue signs.
Hirtle says the markers are being placed in nine locations across town based on how their research showed people move about the area.
