This year’s African Heritage Month will honour the past, present and future.
Minister of African Nova Scotia Affairs, Tony Ince, celebrated February as African Heritage Month with a launch today at Province House in Halifax.
This year’s theme is Passing the Torch – African Nova Scotians and the Next 150 Years.
Ince says people need to encourage youth to get involved.
“We need more of them to pick up the torch. We need the strong ones to grab it firmly with both hands, hold it high to light the path for other young people who may be lost.”
A number of events will held province-wide next month.
That includes a proclamation launch at the Black Loyalist Heritage Centre in Birchtown on February 10 from 10 a.m until noon.
