Jocelyn Peterman of Red Deer, Alberta, and Brett Gallant of St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, won the Canadian Mixed Doubles Curling Trials in Liverpool, Nova Scotia, defeating Rachel Homan and Brendan Bottcher 8-7 in the final.
The victory advances them to the 2025 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Fredericton, New Brunswick, where they’ll aim to secure Canada’s spot in the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games.
Olympic qualification for mixed doubles curling involves combining placements from the 2024 and 2025 World Championships to determine the first seven teams, alongside host Italy. Canada, carrying a fifth-place finish from 2024, hopes to clinch one of these spots. The remaining two Olympic spots will be decided at a qualification event in December 2025.
Peterman and Gallant, both Olympic veterans, are aiming for their second Games appearance, having previously competed in Beijing 2022. The Canadian Curling Trials to select the four-player teams for the 2026 Olympics will take place in November 2025.
