Lunenburg has hired Marvin MacDonald as Interim Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), taking over for Hilary Grant, who had planned to stay until February 25 but vacated the role earlier than expected.
MacDonald brings more than 40 years of experience in both provincial and municipal government. He served as CAO for the Municipality of the District of Saint Mary’s for seven years and as Interim CAO for the Town of Antigonish for four months. MacDonald also spent 33 years with the Province of Nova Scotia, including 18 years in senior positions at Service Nova Scotia & Municipal Relations.
Mayor Jamie Myra expressed confidence that MacDonald’s experience will be valuable during this leadership transition. “Marvin’s experience in both the provincial and municipal sectors will be very helpful to our community as we recruit a new permanent Chief Administrative Officer. He will help support the town during this time,” Myra said.
Grant had intended to stay in the role until February 25 but vacated the role earlier.
MacDonald will now lead the town as Lunenburg continues its search for a permanent CAO.
He will ensure that municipal operations and key projects continue smoothly during this transition period.
