The Region of Queens Municipality has appointed Pam Lovelace as its new Municipal Clerk, following a lengthy hiring process.
Lovelace, a former Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Halifax Regional Municipality, brings over 10 years of municipal experience to the role.
As Municipal Clerk, Lovelace will be responsible for maintaining official council records, developing policies and bylaws, and overseeing the handling of Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy (FOIPOP) requests.
In her new role Lovelace will assist the municipal government, supporting council operations by ensuring proper governance and compliance with procedural rules.
It also involves managing public access to municipal documents and ensuring transparency in the functioning of local government.
“I am honoured to join the incredible team at Region of Queens Municipality and continue working in municipal government in rural Nova Scotia,” said Lovelace. “I’m looking forward to working with senior staff, Council, and committees to provide governance guidance and procedural support.”
In addition to her past roles, Lovelace also ran in the most recent mayoral election for Halifax but was defeated by Andy Fillmore. She has served as a Legislative Support Clerk, Communications and Project Manager, and is currently an instructor of Local Government at Dalhousie University.
Chief Administrative Officer Cody Joudry expressed enthusiasm about Lovelace’s appointment, noting that she is “a high-calibre candidate” with the expertise necessary to contribute significantly to the municipality’s operations.
