Today is a celebration that shines the spotlight on the reason Country 100.7 exists, International Country Music Day.
Hot on the heels of Canada’s biggest night in Country Music, the CCMAs, if we are to name the top Canadian act according the awards handed out over the weekend, Josh Ross would take that title after receiving 5 CCMAs including Entertainer of the Year.  For some Shania will always be tops and still others would say George Canyon or Paul Brandt will always be the best in the Canadian Country Music scene.
Let’s go a bit farther than our borders.  Many descriptions of Country Music name acts like Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Hank Williams, Dolly Parton, and Merle Haggard as the best in the genre.  Many would be upset to not see George Strait on that list as well.  According to Forbes, Hank Williams is the undisputed King of Country artists.

Now if we are to talk about the best country songs of all time, depending on which source you look to, seems Johnny and Dolly are neck and neck.  According to the Rolling Stone, the top five starts with George Jones, Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash and Dolly Parton tops the list.  Her song about the woman that her husband use to deal with at the bank tops the list of the top 200 country songs of all time.

So we have the top artist, song and if we look at the top country dance …  Part of me wants to jump to line dancing, thanks Billy Ray…  But, there are so many, from the country waltz to square dancing and the 2-step, so I will let you decide on that.
The Dance is mentioned in the last subject we will look at for International Country Music Day.  If we look at the best Country Music Video of all time, Garth Brooks takes that title according to Billboard.  I would argue that the Travis Tritt trilogy or the water skiing squirrel in Brad Paisley’s Riverbank should top the list, but it is Garth Brooks – The Dance that wins.
