I was looking forward to picking strawberries, it is a tradition, but looks like that won’t be happening this year.
Yesterday, less than an hour after opening the U-Pick the announcement was posted that they were “all picked out”. Then by 9am it was announced that there would be no more strawberry U-Picks this year! Aside from going to my one time employer, Indian Garden Farm, I don’t know of any other U-Picks on this side of the province.
Now if you were hoping to get berries to make jam, there are a few options.
Of course you can buy the berries, or you could buy the jam. You could wait for the next berries to come along and go with raspberry or blueberry jam. Even though strawberry is the most popular flavour, there are a number of options to consider

Or maybe you have some frozen berries hanging around. If that is the case, might as well use those to make jam. I can’t say I have tried it, but this does look easy and only uses three ingredients. Might want to give it a try.
