This is not a distinction any province would want to celebrate. On the list of the unhappiest provinces in Canada, Nova Scotia is in second place according to a recent study. Using data from various sources (the National Statistical Office, Statistics Canada, and the Government of Canada) eight key areas were looked at in the survey conducted by online gambling site Lucky Days. Life satisfaction, Annual family income, Unemployment risk, Life expectancy, Perceived health and Mental health, Crime rate, and Air quality.
Saskatchewan was named the unhappiest place in Canada, with a happiness score of just 3.27
Nova Scotia was only slightly higher with a happiness score of just 3.52 out of a possible 10.
On the top, Quebec ranks as the happiest Canadian province with an overall happiness score of 8.63 out of a possible 10.
New study ranks Alberta as fourth happiest province in Canada
As is the case with many surveys and studies, as soon as you adjust the focus, there is another result.
I can say after driving across our beautiful country a few times, we live in a great spot. The thing about Nova Scotia is that you have a bit of a sample of what you see across Canada in our one province. No the Highlands are not as grand as the Rockies, but you get a similar feel going through Cape Breton. The Prairies are seemingly never ending flat, but going through the Truro area feels a bit like it. Want to know what much of Ontario is like to drive through, that would be Queens county.
If we look at the top five provinces to live in, Nova Scotia made that list.
