It has to be one of the healthiest things to come in a jar that seems too good to be healthy and it is celebrated today. Happy Peanut Butter Day! So many peanut butter and jam sandwiches were carried to school in my old lunchbox with the Ghostbusters sticker on it. Or “gum-suckies” as my aunt calls them… cause the peanut butter gets stuck around the gums, haha.
This versatile food has just wrapped up one of the busiest seasons as we all know you cannot have Christmas without peanut butter balls. But in our house the kids like to lick it off a spoon too.
So where did the idea of peanut butter first come from? The modern history credits “cereal pioneer John Harvey Kellogg, who filed a patent for a proto-peanut butter in 1895.”
The best part about this tasty treat is that is is good for you. Now I know I am not qualified to make that statement, but the internet doctor is, haha.

The other good part about peanut butter, there is an endless list of things you can make. If you have not tried peanut butter pie, I recommend that. Peanut butter and apple sandwiches are tasty too.
