The latest round of investment from the Houston government’s Recreation Development Fund will see nearly $250,000 go to organizations on the South Shore that support recreation activities.
Broad Cove Community Association will receive $37,000 to broaden and increase the accessibility of its recreational services. Additionally, the Town of Bridgewater will receive $50,000 and the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg will receive $45,000 to improve recreation throughout the area.
The Town of Lunenburg will also receive $10,000 to support its recreation programs.
“When we invest in recreation we promote physical activity and bring communities together,” said MLA Druhan. “Recreational facilities and services are key to building and maintaining healthy communities.”
Other projects on the South Shore receiving funds include; $75,000 for the Yarmouth County Splash Park Committee and $14,700 for the Beacon United Church of Canada.
These local investments are among 47 sites across the province benefiting from $1.7 million awarded through the Recreational Facility Development Grant program.
