The province is looking at making upgrades to some school ventilation systems amid the Omicron wave of COVID-19.
Dr. Robert Strang explains the upgrades will help along with other public health measures like staying out of school when you’re sick and wearing a mask.
“The reality is we are going to get COVID in our schools,” Strang says. “But those layers of safety will help decrease any of the transmission that happens within that setting.”
The changes would be made to schools with passive ventilation systems, which means they rely on natural forces like wind through windows for air circulation.
They’re not expected to be in place before students head back to class on Monday.
