West Hants RCMP expect more charges to be laid after they tracked down an elusive Honda Civic that is believed to be involved with drug trafficking.
On December 9, police received reports of suspicious activity in the Mount Denson, Hantsport, and Falmouth areas.
One person reported observing a burgundy Honda Civic on their property overnight and they had to chase the vehicle out of their driveway. Two other people reported that they had observed a burgundy Honda Civic which they believe was involved in thefts in the area.
Later that day at 4:40 p.m. RCMP tracked down the car in Hanstport and attempted a traffic stop. The driver initially pulled over but as the officer left his vehicle it sped off.
The RCMP located the car again shortly in Windsor where they were able to arrest the two men inside. During the arrest, police observed cocaine and other drug paraphernalia in the car which led to it being seized.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as a 26-year old Ellershouse man but his name was not released. He currently faces charges for Flight from a Peace Officer and Operation of a Conveyance while Prohibited. He is scheduled to appear in Windsor Provincial Court at a later date.
The other man in the vehicle was released without charges, though the RCMP say the investigation is still active and more charges are anticipated.
