So far the South Shore has yet to see any significant snowfall but that’s set to change on Wednesday.
Ian Hubbard a meteorologist with Environment Canada says the snow will land in Southwest Nova Scotia first.
“Parts of the South Shore could see snow as early as Wednesday morning, it will start as flurries and stay like that for a while before picking up overnight,” Hubbard said.
Environment Canada currently forecasts 10-15 centimeters of snowfall on the South Shore.
The risk of freezing rain with this storm is relatively low according to Hubbard who says the low-pressure system does not appear to have any bands of warm air which typically cause freezing rain.
The storm is expected to impact the entire province and as such Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the entire province.
Snowfall is expected to begin in Central Nova Scotia on Wednesday afternoon and Eastern Nova Scotia and Cape Breton will see it arrive late Wednesday night.
