Bridgewater’s Mayor is weighing in after all five local districts were claimed by the Progressive Conservative candidates in Tuesday’s Election.
David Mitchell said like many Nova Scotians, he was surprised by the results.
“All the polling numbers had suggested a Liberal or PC minority,” said Mitchell.” As a sat in front of my T.V. and watched all of the results come in, I was as surprised as everyone else that there was any majority for any party.”
Mitchell shared his thoughts about the PC win in Lunenburg West.
“Its always advantageous to have your MLA on the same side as the party in power,” said Mitchell. “We have enjoyed that for all the years that I can remember in Lunenburg West, so that will continue and I think that will work in the favor of our people.”
Mitchell said he doesn’t know many of the new faces including the MLA elect in Lunenburg West.
“For a lot of them, they are new but as a council we are ready to work with everyone,” explained Mitchell. “We’re neutral so that’s the advantage to our position, so whoever formed government, we were prepared to work and lockstep with them.”
Mitchell adds that he hopes the PC’s can deliver on their promise to improve healthcare quickly.
