It’s a big night for the future of a rowing group in Barrington.
The Queen of Hearts Dory Club will meet in their location at the Cape Sable Island Causeway at 6 p.m.
Club president Nicole Nickerson says they rely on memberships and fundraising, and there was no season last year due to COVID-19.
She says they’re a non-profit organization.
“It’s really hurt the club financially. The club has been struggling with memberships the last few years due to a lack of interest,” said Nickerson.
Nickerson says she’d hate to see the community lose the club, which is part of the area’s heritage and been in operation since the 90s.
She says they’re also looking for volunteers to help with maintenance of the club.
“If we can get some of the people involved in the past to help with upkeep, checking on the dory’s, bailing them out when it’s rained, that kind of thing.”
The meeting will be held outside, with COVID protocols in place.
