A huge accomplishment for Bridgewater Transit is being celebrated with free bus rides.
It’s expected that either Tuesday or Wednesday, the bus service will transport it’s 100,000th passenger.
Town of Bridgewater Mayor, David Mitchell says more residents are taking the bus, allowing the milestone to be reached much sooner than expected.
“When we started, we were averaging about 50 riders per day and we are now at about 125 riders per day,” explained Mitchell. “That’s fantastic.”
He said he’s extremely excited about this accomplishment.
“I just think of when we first launched this as a pilot, I always felt it was going to be successful but not to this extent,” said Mitchell. ” This is beyond my wildest dreams.”
To celebrate this milestone, the Town of Bridgewater has teamed up with the Bridgewater and Area Chamber of Commerce to offer free bus rides all week long.
Residents and visitors can enjoy free bus rides in the town from June 21 to June 26.
