A $14.2 million investment is being made long term care facilities in the province.
The joint investment from the provincial and federal governments will go towards important infrastructure upgrades at 33 long term care facilities across the province.
Health and Wellness Minister Zach Churchill says the investment is to respond to the impacts of COVID-19, and explains how it will be used.
“It’s going to be used to improve the bathroom situation to ensure there’s more privacy,” says Churchill. “There was a number of infrastructure projects that will ensure we’re more efficiently heating our facilities and reducing our carbon footprint.”
He says safety improvements will also be made.
“Particularly in recreational spaces for people to be social in a safe way, particularly as this pandemic still hangs over us.”
The investment is being made through the COVID-19 Resilience Stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.

- Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre
- Colchester East Hants Health Centre
