If you are looking for some inspiration for a staycation this year, there is a wealth of information at your fingertips.
The Bridgewater & Region of Lunenburg Visitor Information Centre in Blockhouse is providing service at a walk-up window and handing out envelopes with requested items.
VIC Manager Denise Penney says that visitor traffic has dropped and they haven’t yet noticed any appreciable increase since the Atlantic Bubble opened up.
“In talking to colleagues working at other visitor centres, it seems to be the case there too,” she said.
Penney says there are lots of things to do in the area, some that even locals may not be aware of.
“When people come in they are asking for trail maps, the most common thing people ask for because everyone wants to do the trails. Campgrounds, there are a fair amount of people who come because they want to go camping in Cape Breton so they are looking for the Doers and Dreamers Guide and a map of Nova Scotia.”
Tourism has taken a hard hit because of the pandemic she says, but she hopes people will still get out and explore the province.
“There are a lot of outdoorsy people in our area, they want to be out and about on the trails now that they’re open. We’d love people to drop by and see us!”
The centre is located at 125 Cornwall Rd B and is open Monday to Friday from 9-4 and Saturday from 10-2.
