For those who miss going out and catching a show on Friday nights, the Town of Bridgewater is bringing the show to you.
The town is hosting the “Best of Bridgewater” variety show, which will see performances from local musicians and storytellers including Ed Halverson, Kaylyn Turner, Stewart Franck and others.
Patrick Hirtle, communications for the town, says all the performances will happen from the artists homes, to keep in line with physical distancing instructions due to COVID-19.
“We talked about the logistics of doing a live show and we just thought there are so many potential issues around that,” he says, “So what we decided to do was ask our performers to submit a prerecorded video of their performance.”
Hirtle says he, like many others, misses going downtown on a Friday night to visit one of the many restaurants or pubs hosting live shows, and felt this would be a great way for people to get a bit of that back while remaining home.
“Having the opportunity to use technology to put little shows like this together I think is a way we can still emotionally connect together and share this experience even though we are in our own homes,” he says.
The plan is to host an online show each week for the next few coming weeks in hopes of keeping people entertained until public restrictions have dropped.
The video will go up at 7 pm Friday, and people can tune in and comment on the town’s Facebook page.
