Two South Shore firefighters are heading to Australia to help combat raging wildfires.
Members with the Nova Scotia Department of Lands and Forestry departed Wednesday to join 64 other Canadians heading to Australian states New South Wales and Victoria.
The two South Shore members, Jamie Brown of Liverpool and Jacob Penny of Cornwall, were among five Nova Scotians on their way to assist with fire relief efforts.

To date, an estimated 2,700 firefighters have responded to the wildfires, which have laid waste to more than 10.6 million hectares of land, destroyed over 3,000 homes and claimed at least 33 lives.
This marks the second team of fire fighters the province has sent to assist with the wildfires.
