Harry Freeman and Sons Limited is the largest employer in Greenville and now they have made a significant contribution to the local fire department.
On Monday night the Greenfield Fire Department hosted a presentation of new bunker gear for their firefighters.
The new gear was made possible by a $30,000 donation Freeman and Sons, the surplus will be used to sponsor an incentive program to recruit new volunteer firefighters.
Co-owner of Freeman and Sons, Richard Freeman says this is part of an ongoing relationship.
” We’ve been involved with the fire department for a while now. We just wanted to show that we are part of this community, we live here and we want to help.”
No specifics have been released on the incentive program but the Greenfield Fire Department says it will take the form of a pay increase for people willing to join the GFD team.
There are currently 37 firefighters with the Greenfield Fire Department some of whom work for Freeman and Sons.
