Voters in South Shore – St. Margaret’s are sending Liberal Bernadette Jordan back to Ottawa.
The incumbent won over 40 percent of the votes to earn a second term in office.
Appointed Minister of Rural Economic Development in January of this year, Jordan was part of the red tide that swept every seat in Atlantic Canada during the 2016 election.
Jordan says there’s a reason Liberals managed to hold a large number of those seats.
“I think it’s because we’ve delivered. I think Atlantic Canada has seen definite progress because of our government. I think that we have seen just some wonderful things coming to Atlantic Canada that people have desperately wanted for a long time.”
Jordan is humbled to be chosen once again to represent the people of South Shore- St.Margaret’s.
She says she listened intently to people when she was at their doors during the campaign.
“We heard a lot about things like housing, and things like poverty, and climate and health care. These are all things that we need to address. These are big issues in this area and it’s something that I’ll be focused on when I get back to Ottawa.”
Jordan says she never really stops campaigning.
While she will to take tomorrow to rest up, she plans to continue knocking on doors and holding town halls to ensure resident’s concerns are heard in the halls of the nation’s capitol.
