Residents living on the South Shore will be lacing up their shoes next weekend for a cause close to peoples heart.
President of the Rosalin Nickerson Care Fund, Shelley d’Eon says she started the Walk for a Cause after losing both her parents to cancer.
The event has helped her heal, and give to others.
“In the community, I know we’re making a difference. We’re supporting patient 300. I know the area needs it bad. I think a lot of areas in Nova Scotia needs the same type of fund. Cancer is very huge in Nova Scotia,” says d’Eon.
Walk for a Cause has been held every year since 2006.
They hope to raise at least $55,000.
The event will be held indoors rain or shine at the Barrington and Area Curling Rink in Sherose Island on September 16th.
It starts at 3pm and all money raised will go to those in the community battling cancer.
