Rivalries will be renewed Saturday as the best dory racers from Canada square off against the U.S. in Lunenburg.
It is the second leg of the 65th annual International Dory Races.
Races will be held in five divisions including junior, mixed, senior men’s, women’s and over 50.
Canadian Dory Racing Association President, Kelly George, says it’s tough to determine who will come out on top.
“You have to have stamina and it’s not always about the guns (muscles) that you got, it is an entire body workout; your using your legs, your back and it’s your mental state.”
Canada won three out of the five races in Gloucester in June during the first leg.
President of the Gloucester International Racing Team, Bill Edmonds, says the annual event is circled on his calendar.
“You come up here and you’re welcome at all times. It’s a great event. All the comeraderie and the friendship you have year in and year out is just a phenomenal thing.”
The second leg gets underway Saturday at 10 a.m. in Lunenburg Harbour.
