The Rendez-Vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta continues today in Shelburne and Digby. Four ships are in Shelburne for a second straight day, with more events planned.
There was musical entertainment and fireworks last night.
Public tours are being offered in Shelburne from 11am-4pm today.
In Digby, they are welcoming seven ships to the harbour for two days of events, including the Bluenose II.
Digby Mayor Ben Cleveland says there’s lots of excitement.
“The open house is from 4-8 today, there will be 26 different musical acts playing, and the same for tomorrow. There will be food tasters, wine tasting and more. We have everything happening here today.”
Mayor Cleveland says Tall Ships visits usually draw around 5,000 people a day.
He says it’s been about 15 years since a Tall Ship has visited Digby, and seven ships are the most to ever arrive at one time.
“We certainly appreciate the craftsmanship that went into those ships and the experience of sailing on them. We’re encouraging everyone to come out, enjoy the beautiful weather and see the tall ships in action.”
At 3:30 tomorrow afternoon, the ships are expected to sail to Annapolis Royal and back under full sail.
Some Tall Ships will be anchored August 15 and August 16, 2017 in Digby Nova Scotia!⛵️ https://t.co/o0spodPp5D
