South Shore Athletes Capture Medals at NSSAF Track and Field Provincials


The NSSAF Track and Field Provincials were held in Dartmouth over the weekend.

Here are some of the top results from schools in our area:

Nick Landry of Bridgewater Junior-Senior High won the intermediate boys 100 metre hurdles.

Riley Bush won the junior boys 400 meter, finished second in the junior boys 200 meter and finished third in the junior boys 100 meter. Andrew Johnson won the intermediate boys high jump.

Chester Area Middle School and Bluenose Academy finished second and third, respectively, in the junior boys 4 x 400 metre relay.

Lawson Cook of CAMS took silver in the junior boys 400 meter.

Logan Taylor of Bluenose Academy won the intermediate boys shotput and discus. Olivia Keays and Evelyn Ferguson finished second and third in junior girls triple jump. Ferguson also took third in junior girls long jump.

From Park View,  Josh Bell won senior boys discus and was second in senior boys javelin. Cameron Whynot took silver in senior boys 6kg shotput. Jessica Clarke received bronze in the senior girls 80 metre hurdles. The Panther senior girls won the 4 x 100 meter relay and finished third in the 4 x 400 meter relay.

From New Ross, Emmalee Harvey won the junior girls shot put and finished second in junior girls discus while Jenna Turner won silver in junior girls 80 metre hurdles.

Julie-Ann Lemire of Hebbville Academy was third in junior girls 80 metre hurdles. Nolan Wentzell was third in intermediate boys 100 metre hurdles.

Isaac Cull was the lone representative of Drumlin Heights. He was second in the senior boys 3000m and third in the 1500m.

For Barrington Municipal High School, Jacob Symonds won the senior boys 200 meter dash and placed second in the 400m dash, Natalia Nickerson placed second in the 3kg junior girls shotput while Leanna Messenger was third. Kirt Brannen finished second in senior boys discus.

Shelburne Regional High School saw Drew Jacklin place second in the senior boys high jump. Jamie Fehr and Abe Chidiac were third in separate high jump events. Taylor Goodick was second in javelin.
