A local student represented Lunenburg Campus well at the recent NSCC skills competition.
Craig Hendry travelled to the NSCC campus on Dartmouth's waterfront to pit what he has learned against students from across the province.
Hendry studies Refrigeration/Air Conditioning and says he had no idea what to expect from the competition.
"We didn't know until I arrived, I had to pipe in a full refrigeration system from a set of schematics within just a few hours. Pull a vacuum and charge it with refrigerant."
Hendry placed third in the competition against people with years more experience.
He credits his instructors for his success.
"It was awesome to know that after one year of school I can go to another school and do exactly what I was trained to do in a very short time."
Hendry says the competition shows the education in Bridgewater stacks up with any campus across Nova Scotia.
While he hopes the win will look good on his resume, he really appreciated getting to know students who could be his co-workers one day.
