Bridgewater has approved a marketing coordinator position at the Lunenburg County Lifestyle Centre.
The town has agreed to pay $25,000 after the LCLC board of directors passed a motion to create the position.
Mayor David Mitchell says council indicated they wanted a marketing coordinator to the board last winter.
"We need to have someone who is specialized in marketing and who knows how to really attract top notch events. We have to put our money where our mouth is. We have had this facility open now for a number of years and we need to take the next step forward."
The facility has hosted concerts including Kenny Rogers and Travis Tritt and sporting events like the World Sledge Hockey Challenge since it opened in the fall of 2013.
The LCLC is preparing for future events including the Nova Scotia 55+ Games and the 2018 Esso Cup.
Bridgewater is paying 50 percent of the cost for the position while the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg will cover the other half.
MODL has yet to make a decision and will speak about it at their meeting on Tuesday.
