More than 5,000 customers were without power on the South Shore this afternoon.
A rash of outages were reported spanning form Bridgewater to Port L’Hebert.
Dave Rodenhiser with Nova Scotia Power says the weather is to blame.
“The freezing rain is causing ice to build up on trees and that’s causing branches and trees to fall onto powerlines.
Rodenhiser says crews have been working to clear the branches and get the lines back up as quickly as possible.
He says most should see the lights come back on over the supper hour with some waiting as late as 8 o’clock.
