The lobster season off southwestern Nova Scotia is more than a week underway.
It was delayed a day due to poor weather.
While catches and price vary, Terry Zinck, president of Xsealent Seafood Company in Clark's Harbour, says, overall, it appears to be a good season so far.
"Our landings from our vessels are probably equivalent to what they were a year ago. As they always say, some are up and some are down but for the most part so far we're on par with last year and catches from our perspective are very good."
Zinck says they're very busy at their facility.
"By the middle of next week it will be getting busier then of course leading into the following week which is one of the busiest weeks of the season. Our customers are calling, they're looking to get going as well so it's all positive from that perspective. We ship to several countries."
Zinck says his company, like many others, are in high gear, ramping things up to get our lobsters to overseas markets.
