A grim anniversary will be marked tomorrow.
Fourteen women lost their lives when they were gunned down at École Polytechnique in Montreal December 6, 1989.
Second Story Women's Centre, Harbour House and South Shore Labour Council are holding a day of remembrance.
Nicole Robson with Second Story, says they will remember the victims and acknowledge all who have been impacted, hurt or lost their life to an act of violence.
"I hope that it's going to bring awareness to the issues that women are facing and I hope that we might find some allies in the fight to end domestic violence, and violence against women and violence based on people's gender."
Robson says violence is a reality of life for too many women.
"It happened in Montreal, but there's still violence that happens in all of our communities. Every day women are struggling and facing that. Not just violence, but also being murdered as well."
The vigil will feature guest speakers and light refreshments.
It gets underway in Bridgewater at Pijinuiskaq Park Wednesday beginning at 6:00pm.*** Due to rain, the event has been moved to HB Studios on Glen Allan Drive
